Renting a Car for Budget-Friendly Day Trips

One cost-effective way to explore the beautiful surroundings of Salzburg is by renting a car for day trips. There are many great day trips within an easy drive of Salzburg. Our favorites included driving to Hallstatt and experiencing the enchanting beauty of this picturesque village. While there we toured the salt mine and delve into the intriguing history of salt production. Lake Kongissee in Germany was a great trip from Salzburg, only a 30 min drive and such a fun little area to explore. On a heavier topic, but one that was important to us to teach our children, we explored the Mauthausen concentration camp to impart a valuable lesson to the kids about history. This was almost and 1.5 hour drive from Salzburg, and then visited nearby Linz.
