They say parenting is an adventure, and boy, are they right! Our family's journey has been a whirlwind of laughter, love, and, of course, the occasional bumps and bruises, or in our case, broken bones. But what if I told you that those mishaps could be your ticket to some incredible family vacations? Enter accident insurance—a superhero in disguise for families with daredevil (or accident prone) kids.
Accident Insurance: The Unsung Hero
Accident insurance is like that trusty sidekick who's always there when you need it most. It's a safety net that's got your back when life throws a curveball. And trust me, with kids in tow, those curveballs can turn into unexpected expenses faster than you can say "Disneyland."
Our Personal Misadventure Turned Adventure
Picture this: a backyard game of “Floor is Lava” turned very wrong, a bone-breaking thud, and our 7-year-old daughter soon clutching her newly acquired cast-covered arm, after a surgery and an overnight stay in the hospital. Not the plan we had in mind on that random Tuesday! We rushed her to the hospital, visions of medical bills dancing in our heads.
But wait, here's where the plot twist happens. You see, we'd had the foresight to invest in accident insurance for our family. It turned out to be the wisest decision ever. The insurance payouts we received helped cover the medical expenses and turned our misadventure into an adventure fund! That one accident led to an $8,000 payout. Considering we had already met most of our out-of-pocket deductible earlier, most of that $8,000 wound up in our bank account. That’s when we decided to apply it to a travel fund.
The following month our 9 year old daughter’s soccer practice turned into a fractured ankle and an end to her season. Once again, our hero - accident insurance, came to our rescue and we had an additional $4,000 payout. Now we suddenly had close to $12,000 in our vacation fund. This provided us an opportunity to utilize that money for an epic 5 week dream vacation, turning our lemons into lemonade.

Do we want accidents to happen? Of course not. But having accident insurance can definitely take the sting out of life’s bumps and unexpected turns. And if you plan right you can use those funds to save for travel. The accident happened…there was no avoiding that. But the prior decision to have accident insurance meant we wound up with money in our pocket after the accident instead of an empty pocket. So if you have children, purchase accident insurance. We pay a very low monthly premium, and we’ve had a much larger payout.
Turning a Cast into a Compass
Our daughters now tells their friends with pride that the funded our 5 weeks exploring Scandinavia. FIVE weeks. It was a trip for the memory books! All thanks to our boosted travel fund from a safety net of accident insurance.
